General Dentistry: Compassionate Care Rooted in Hope
At The Gentle Dentist, our goal is to build lasting, caring relationships with each patient. We take time to listen to your concerns, understand your story, and provide state-of-the-art dental care — all with compassion and respect.
Inspired by our belief that every person is created with dignity and worth, we see dental care as an opportunity to help restore not only smiles but also confidence and hope.
What Makes Our Comprehensive Exam Different
During your first visit, we’ll take a series of digital photos of your mouth and face so that together we can review your situation and develop a treatment plan tailored to your goals, wants, and needs.
We don’t rush this process — our comprehensive dental exam provides a foundation for understanding your health, detecting potential concerns early, and crafting a long-term care plan just for you.
“Dr. Antolak and his entire staff are amazing. They squeezed me in around their already busy schedule for an emergency root canal (I’ve never been more excited to get shots in my mouth and I didn’t even feel the poke). They took the time to explain the entire procedure step by step and did a great job calming my nerves. Every time I’ve had an appointment, they’ve made me feel right at home. Everyone is so sweet and friendly, from the office staff to the hygienists to the gentle dentist. I also appreciate that Dr. Antolak will take time to call and check up to see how his patients are doing after a procedure. I’m really glad that I was able to find a great dentist close to home!”
A Thoughtful, Thorough Examination
Our comprehensive exam takes about one to one and a half hours and is recommended for new patients or every three to five years for established patients.
We examine your muscles, joints, bite, teeth, gums, and oral tissues carefully and thoroughly.
Here’s what to expect:
-
Pre-Clinical Exam:
We begin with a conversation about your medical history and any concerns you may have. Dental X-rays will allow us to examine your teeth, roots, and supporting structures. -
Extra-Oral Exam:
We examine the temporomandibular joints (TMJ), muscles of your temples, jaw, neck, and shoulders to identify any tenderness or movement concerns that could affect comfort or function. -
Intra-Oral Exam:
We examine your soft tissues, throat, tongue, and gums, checking for signs of oral cancer, abnormalities, or areas needing extra care. We also assess your teeth’s structural health and note any concerns.
We may also perform an occlusal exam to study how your teeth fit together — ensuring alignment and promoting healthy chewing function.
When appropriate, we gather additional records like impressions or photographs to document your dental condition and plan your care.
A Plan for Whole-Person Care
Once your comprehensive exam is complete, we will review our findings with you and answer your questions. Together, we will create a dental care plan to help you achieve a healthy, beautiful smile that reflects the joy and confidence you deserve.
Schedule your general dentistry appointment today — where compassion, excellence, and hope meet to restore your smile.
