Considering Oral Conscious Sedation?
We know that dental visits can cause apprehension, and we take pride in helping every patient feel as comfortable and relaxed as possible throughout their care.
In addition to oral conscious sedation, we provide several options to make your visit comfortable and pain-free:
- You can stop treatment or request a break at any time simply by raising your hand.
- Noise-canceling headphones are available so you can listen to music and reduce dental noise.
- We verify with you before starting treatment to ensure you are fully numb.
- Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) is available for anyone who requests it.
- Clean, warm blankets and pillows help keep you comfortable.
We offer these accommodations to every patient because we are dedicated to making your experience the best it can be. Dental visits should not be filled with anxiety or fear. Communication is a top priority, so you will always know what is happening and why. If these comfort options are not enough to ease your dental anxiety, then oral conscious sedation may be the best solution for you.
Oral Conscious Sedation Dentistry
- How does it work?
You take a safe, prescribed sleeping pill before and during treatment, allowing you to become deeply relaxed or even fall asleep. Most patients have little or no memory of their visit. Imagine sleeping through your next dental appointment and waking up with a healthier smile! - Who is this right for?
Oral conscious sedation is ideal for patients with overwhelming dental anxiety, for those who prefer to complete treatment in fewer visits, and for those with a strong gag reflex. - What should I consider?
You will need a trusted adult to accompany you to your appointment, drive you home, and stay with you for at least six hours afterward. The effects of oral conscious sedation can last up to 24 hours, during which your judgment and coordination may be impaired. Your safety and comfort are our priorities, and we work closely with you and your caregiver to ensure a smooth experience.
“For so long whenever I would smile I would keep my mouth closed avoiding being in front of a camera. Instead of having my picture taken I would always be the photographer. Now after having Dr. Antolak gave me a new smile with veneers, I am a new person. Sometimes I have to remind myself that I can smile now, really smile. It’s a great feeling! We now have more pictures of me smiling confidently with our son instead of me always taking the pictures.”
