LOCAL DENTIST HELPS PATIENTS SMILE AND GIVE TO CHARITY
(Shelby Township, Michigan)
Local dentist, Dr. Robert Antolak, is making charitable contributions to Henry Ford Hospice SandCastles Grief Support as a result of the efforts of his office in the Smiles for Life Campaign. Dr. Antolak is inviting his patients and members of the community to whiten their teeth for a reduced price with 100% of the proceeds going to charity.
“We have been overwhelmed at the response of the community to this campaign. Because of the generosity of the many patients and community members who participated, SandCastles will be able fulfill more of its mission in our community,” explained Dr. Antolak.
The Smiles for Life Foundation is the children’s charity organization of the Crown Council, an organization of leading-edge dentists throughout North America. Each year over a four-month period, Crown Council dentists participating in the Smiles for Life campaign offer professional teeth whitening services at a considerably reduced price and donate 100 percent of the proceeds to children’s charities. The Crown Council’s Smiles for Life Foundation has raised more than $27 million since 1998, benefiting nearly 500 children’s charities across North America.
During the 2009-2010 four-month campaign, Dr. Antolak and team raised over $4,600. This year our goal is $5,000. Half of the funds raised were contributed to Henry Ford Hospice SandCastles for use right here in our community. The other half of the funds goes to the Smiles For Life Foundation to be distributed to worthy and approved children’s charities across the U.S. and Canada. Participating charities includes Children’s Miracle Network, Children of Romania, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, CURE (in Cambodia), Smiles for Hope, and the Kids Cancer Care Foundation.
“Smiles for Life is a win-win situation,” explains Greg Anderson, director of the Crown Council and one of the founders of the Smiles for Life campaign. “Patients get a brighter smile, our member dentists get the satisfaction of contributing to their community, and best of all, children who really need our help get a reason to smile.”

Details: A fund raiser for those people who need dental services and who desire to help the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Dr. Antolak was planning to leave for Haiti on January 21, along with 23 members of Faith Lutheran Church in Troy and members of other area churches, to share the love of Jesus Christ through a soccer clinic, working with an orphanage, and performing dentistry to over 250 people who don’t have access to dental care.
Unfortunately, the trip had to be cancelled because of the Haiti earthquake. This would have been Dr. Antolak’s ninth visit to Les Cayes, Haiti on the southwest coast of the country. Fortunately the dental clinic and church, where he has served for 8 years, sustained only minor damage. However, Faith Lutheran Church has been working alongside the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Haiti (ELCH) for the last nine years and the ELCH church was completely destroyed in the quake. The ELCH church will not receive any aide from outside public sources to rebuild except through direct private fundraising donations.
In response to the Haiti disaster, Dr. Antolak and his long time friend, Dr. Apsey of Warren, along with several other volunteer assistants, will be offering dental services to local residents who need dental care and at the same time, would like to help the earthquake victims. Services offered will be: Cleanings, x-rays, fillings, extractions, root canals, crowns and bridges and other general dental services.
Donation checks will be made to Faith Lutheran Church and are considered tax deductible. Those contributing will receive receipts from the church. The suggested donation for services will be based on Dr. Antolak’s normal fee schedule. “I can personally guarantee that 100% of the funds raised will go to where they are supposed to go. I have been serving in Haiti for nine years and know the pastors there personally and communicate with them on a regular basis.” Antolak said.
